The mountain world begins right outside the door for hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking, climbing and skiing (the ski slope next to the house allows ski-in/ski-out), wellness in the room's own sauna, culinary delights and good wines by the fireplace, on the terrace, in the restaurant or at the bar, watching the mountains and letting their power work its magic on you.

Space, freedom, tranquillity – and a magnificent view of the Dolomites. Up here at 1850 m in the Italian Alps is the refuge “anders Mountain Suits”. The seven suites offer nature lovers, architecture connoisseurs and design aficionados the perfect retreat. Hiking, biking, skiing: The “anders” is an ideal starting point for numerous activities and exploration tours. And all this in the middle of the Plose in South Tyrol.

The former 50-bed Aurora hotel building, which was still a youth hostel in the sixties, has become “anders” since June 2022. A design guesthouse with seven large flats. A spectacular new building designed by South Tyrolean architect Martin Gruber, who has thus created a new, bold and minimalist refuge where hospitality and modern design come together in one place. The house gently blends into nature without pushing itself into the foreground. Its design makes a striking statement. Warm wood and plain grey concrete blend almost naturally into the hillside.

With its slightly projecting platform, the house opens up towards the mighty rocky range with the Peitlerkofel and the Geisler Group. A house that is just as extraordinary as its location: warm wood and plain grey concrete, sometimes straight, sometimes curved shapes blend almost naturally into the unique backdrop. Endless space and the ancient, majestic, grey peaks of the Dolomites opposite.

Nature right on your doorstep. From here you can set off. On foot, by bike or on skis.

Inside, a spacious guest room welcomes arrivals – reception, bar, fireside lounge and restaurant all in one.

The 65-square-metre, purist suites extend over two floors. A highlight of the flats are undoubtedly the panoramic windows, with a phenomenal view through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Dolomites and the surrounding area. Downstairs living space, kitchen and garden access, upstairs wardrobe, bathroom, cosy double bed and glazed Finnish sauna. “We wanted to be smaller and finer. In our eyes, less is not only more, but better,” says Andreas Plattner, owner and trained chef.
