In April 2019 the “Pediatric Urology Team Austria for Eritrea” flew to Eritrea again with 11 doctors and a total of 420 kg of luggage.

The pediatric urology team was on site for a week and, thanks to the donation from Tränchen Trocknen, was able to help numerous children free of charge and on a voluntary basis.

Pediatric Urology Team Austria for Eritrea travels to Eritrea twice a year and has now been able to build up a good network. On-site helpers provide accommodation and drive the doctors to the IOCCA clinic, where they can examine and treat the children. Eritrea is one of the poorest countries in the world and many parents accept long journeys and long waiting times with their children because it is the only option for specialist treatment. Some operations had to be postponed to a later date, made more difficult by power outages, but 71 children were able to receive surgical help in five days. In addition to the operations, 205 children were also treated on an outpatient basis. We thank the medical team for their tireless commitment and are pleased that we were able to support this successful mission.

In active cooperation with the SIXT corporate and franchise countries, the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation has been able to support over 200 projects in more than 50 countries around the world in recent years.
