RENOVATION OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN KINAKONI Together with the Stern Foundation and Welthungerhilfe, the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation Drying Tears supports the securing of the future for the people in the village of Kinakoni. The project started with a discussion of the background of poverty and hunger, in order to then work out solutions together with the people in the village, which can also be transferred to other villages in the region.

Education is an important building block for the future of the children of Kinakoni. That is why the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation TRÄNCHEN TROCKNEN supports this extensive project. Because the future of our world is being shaped in the classrooms of today.

Currently, the primary school in the village of Kinakoni is in a dilapidated state. There is no internet and it is not ensured that all children can graduate from school. The Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation TRÄNCHEN TROCKNEN is supporting the renovation of the school with funding so that in future 250 pupils can be taught all subjects in nine classrooms.

About 5,000 people live in the village of Kinakoni in Kenya. The lack of rainfall has led to a deterioration of the situation for the villagers and many children suffer from malnutrition. Employees of the Stern Foundation and Welthungerhilfe are working together with the villagers to tackle the most urgent problems and to enable the local people to lead independent, self-sufficient lives in the future. Every investment and expenditure is another step towards Kinakoni’s autonomy, so that local people can earn their own living and children have a real chance of further education and scholarships. Over the next three years, the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation Drying Tears, the Stern Foundation and Welthungerhilfe will actively support the local people.

The electric pianos donated by the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation Drying Tears have decisively improved the practice situation at 17 project schools throughout Germany. The schools and also music centres make the e-pianos available to the pupils for practising and playing and lend them especially to needy children so that they can also play the piano at home. Being able to play and practise at home at any time brings joy and success to piano playing. In this way, the children “keep at it” and making music is anchored in the children’s lives as a permanent purpose with all the positive effects.

Children in special schools are enthused about classical music and making their own music through concerts. In addition, music-making is made possible at a low level and permanently implemented at the schools. Cultural education and participation are thus made possible for children who would otherwise have no access to music. Most of the pupils in special schools come from very difficult socio-economic backgrounds. In addition to the joy of music and making music, the pupils are taught important everyday skills on the electric piano, recognition and success are made possible and thus their personality development is strengthened. The school climate and the perception of the school from the outside are sustainably improved, which has a lasting effect on the pupils and in turn strengthens their identification with the school as a social space.
