The "Futurium - House of Futures" is an innovative space for exhibitions and events centred around the topic of shaping the future.

Located in the government district, the Futurium serves as a forum for dialogue between science, business and politics. With the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as well as co-operations with renowned institutions such as the Max Planck Society and the Fraunhofer Society, the centre presents the contribution of science, research and technology to shaping the future.

The architects Richter and Musikowski focussed on openness and clear, sculptural forms in the design. The low-energy building with solar panels on the roof and a rainwater utilisation system demonstrates an architectural commitment to sustainability.

The Futurium offers around 3,200 square metres of exhibition space on three floors, where visitors can explore different concepts of the future in the thinking spaces of man, nature and technology. The exhibition encourages visitors to develop their own points of view on controversial topics. There is also the Futurium Lab, a space that invites visitors to experiment and allows them to work with soldering irons, 3D printers and other technologies themselves.

With the so-called “Skywalk” on the roof, the Futurium not only offers an impressive view of the photovoltaic collector fields, but also of the Spreebogen and the Chancellery. The house embodies the basic conviction that possible futures arise from our decisions and actions. It is divided into the exhibition, forum and lab areas, which promote exchange and dialogue between science, politics, business, culture and civil society.
