If all the chocolat over the past two years has taught us anything, it's that travel is something very, very precious. Here are three appropriate inspirations.

Let yourself be seduced and spend your holiday in these exclusive hotels in Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Enjoy: Lanserhof, Sylt

“By this shattering sea I have lived deeply,” Thomas Mann wrote in 1928 in the guestbook of the artists’ pension Kliffende in Kampen, from which you can see how long the island has exerted its magical attraction. Now another health resort is opening for the Lanserhof Group, which describes its concept as “a symbiosis of traditional natural healing and the latest medical findings.” Responsible for the construction on the site of a former officers’ home in the north of the island is the architectural office of Christoph Ingenhoven; the aim was not to interfere with the protected landscape and wildlife.

Outdoor: Suvretta House, St. Moritz

Now we don’t want to do injustice to the imposing Grandhotel Suvretta House, built in 1911 by Swiss hotel pioneer Anton Bon, but what you can do when you’re not staying there is almost as interesting as the 5-star luxury resort itself. Suvretta House is located at an altitude of 1,862 meters amidst the high alpine landscape of the Upper Engadine, you can play tennis, golf, hike – and of course ski in the winter. There is direct access to the ski slopes and its own ski lift.

Curativ: Villa Igiea, Palermo

We never tire of mentioning how extraordinarily good it is to vacation in Sicily, but now there’s another reason to go there: Villa Igiea. The listed 5-star Grand Hotel with 72 guest rooms and 28 suites has been carefully renovated in the last two years. One could mention that the palazzo was originally planned as a sanatorium, but only the wide corridors suggest that the actual purpose was once different. The view of the Gulf of Palermo from the Art Nouveau palace is still healing, however.
