Alcantara is an official partner of “Car // Design Event” and contributed to the dynamic mix of networking, European and world premieres of concept cars, panel discussions and stimulating conversations. Filippo Taiani, Design Manager at Alcantara, also gave a glimpse into the future. The company, which is headquartered in Milan and has production facilities in Nera Montoro, Umbria (Terni), follows the wishes of its customers, sometimes several years in advance, but also develops its own collections for automotive, fashion and consumer electronics. The design team is therefore close to the customer, but also provides its partners with the latest trends. This is closely meshed and culminates in results that made those present in Munich sit up and take notice: Alcantara with peacock trim, wood inlays and transparent crystals that conjure up very special effects with light were just some of the wide range of products on offer. The latter is very much in demand from fashion designers in particular.
“We are incredibly proud of the exclusive customised solutions we offer. The customisation potential of our material is infinite and the versatility of Alcantara allows for constant changes to respond to any requirement,” says Andrea Boragno, CEO of Alcantara S.p.A. “We also believe that the product is not only defined by its technical performance. It must be able to create an emotional connection with the consumer, and for this reason we continue to focus on this.” – Andrea Boragno, Chairman of the Board of Alcantara
Design and sustainability go hand in hand for Alcantara. The Made-in-Italy brand reached an important milestone in 2009 when it was awarded CO2 neutrality certification for the first time. This was based on the compensation of greenhouse gas emissions through CO2 credits from certified and verified offset projects.

Alcantara is often associated with the automotive industry, but lifestyle and art are another milestone in the company’s history.
