The Ernst Leitz Museum brings the fascination of the world of Leica to life and invites visitors to participate and try out exciting exhibits. You can go on an expedition of Leica history and innovative technology. Create your own images, play with wind, light and shadow in your photographs, and explore the digital darkroom. With the integrated Leica cameras or your own smartphone, you can implement your photo ideas and take along memories via app.
Until July 17th, 2022, the Museum will show a unique retrospective of the Magnum photographer Thomas Hoepker. Since the 1960s, Hoepker has shaped German photojournalism like no other. Yet he has always modestly seen himself as a commissioned photographer, as an “Image Maker”. Look forward to 180 motifs, including numerous shots that have long since become iconic.

Let yourself be enchanted by photography and be inspired by Leica photographers to get the best out of your smartphone camera, so that you can create exciting photographic stories in the future. For ambitious photographers, the Leica Academy has many additional offers, ranging from workshops to photo trips.
Nature lovers will also get their money’s worth at Leitz-Park. During a walk along the nature trail in the adjacent forest, you will not only find detailed explanations of the local flora and fauna, but also an outdoor gallery. Embedded in the special ambiance of the forest, photo exhibitions are regularly presented, which are free of charge.
Of course, the culinary offerings at Leitz-Park leave nothing to be desired, and the special atmosphere at Café Leitz, with its select coffee specialties and lovingly prepared home-made baked goods and desserts, invites you to pause, discuss your experience at Leitz Park, or simply relax your legs. The team at Café Leitz and the in-house pastry chef have been honored by “Der Feinschmecker” magazine in 2018 and 2021 and are now officially among the best cafés and roasteries in the country.
