While the global tennis elite were hitting balls around each other’s ears on the court, the tournament’s initiator could only watch the spectacle from afar. Roger Federer, father of the Laver Cups, was missing due to his knee injury. “The team spirit, the fans and above all the terrific atmosphere make the Laver Cup one of my personal highlights in the tournament calendar,” said the Swiss tennis legend. He then had enough time to familiarize himself with the new EQS from brand partner Mercedes-Benz.
EQS electrifies Roger Federer
However, a very small part of the event – if you understand its partnership with Mercedes-Benz in this way – is still present. The Stuttgart-based luxury brand is the mobility service provider for players, officials and selected guests at the sporting event. And the Stuttgart-based company can envision further projects with Federer in the near future. “We value his sporting incentive just as much as his cultural and social commitment. Together we are in close dialogue,” says Bettina Fetzer, Head of Communications and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz AG.

Federer, who alongside Alicia Keys and Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton was part of the global launch campaign for the new S-Class at the end of last year, is now also promoting the EQS. He tested the electric luxury sedan in Switzerland during a day of action in the run-up to the Laver Cup. His verdict is ace for Mercedes. “The long range is ideal for me as a tennis pro. For me, the EQS represents a new generation of vehicles.”
