Exactly 40 years after the predecessor "The Visitors", ABBA are going at it again. Although there are still a good two months until the release of their ninth studio album, new records are already being set in the UK.

In just three days, over 80,000 pre-orders have already been noted for comeback album “Voyage”, according to the record label. With this, the quartet from Sweden has put the Manchester heroes Take That with their albums “Progress” from 2010 and “III” from 2014 in the pre-order shadow.

And it was here in Great Britain that ABBA’s international career once began, when they won the Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo” in the seaside resort of Brighton in 1974. Despite all the 1970s musical currents like glam rock, punk or disco, ABBA took a total of nine number one singles in the motherland of pop. All their albums also went to the top. The 1992 compilation “Gold” sold over five million copies in the UK alone. With new singles “I Still Have Faith In You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down” currently on their way to charting worldwide, the countdown to their virtual concert series at the purpose-built ABBA Arena is also set to begin, as we all know. Starting in May 2022, as you’d expect some of these hologram concerts at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have already sold out shortly after tickets were made available. The good thing is: presumably everyone will be able to see the show at some point. Because the band is not physically on site, but is represented by detailed ABBA-tare (so-called avatars). A specially built arena in London will probably be the long-term venue for the spectacle.

How much are the tickets?

Ticket prices range from “General Admission” at 53.95 pounds around (63 euros, plus fees) to Platinum Tickets (175 pounds, around 204 euros, plus fees) to hotel combination tickets such as “The Royal Horseguards Premium Seated Package” with overnight accommodation for 387 pounds (around 450 euros, plus fees).

Until which date is it possible to pre-order?

According to the schedule, this currently goes up to and including September 2022.

How long do the concerts last?

100 minutes, according to the info on the Abba website.

Tip from the GO SIXT editorial team:

After all the stress about tickets and concerts, relaxation is the order of the day. In a really nice hotel and a nice restaurant. Here are our recommendations.

The Haymarket, the elegant hotel is located in the centre of London’s theatre district, surrounded by restaurants and bars. Fancy something sweet? Afternoon tea is served until 4:30pm and treats you to delicious cakes, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a wide selection of teas and coffees.

Our tip for a restaurant is Aviary (22-25 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1DX). With the elegance of London, a quiet, luxurious atmosphere and a touch of New York, it provides a perfect backdrop for special occasions or a relaxing evening drink with stunning views. The exclusive menu of the associated restaurant invites you to dine at the highest level.
